Core Word Choices
Core Word Choices
Core words comprise up to 85% of the words we use on a day-to-day basis and can be used in a variety of different situations. This makes them an essential part of any treatment plan. Often times, core words are best taught in pairs! This resource pairs commonly used contrasting core words so they can be isolated and taught during structured activities. You can choose one pair to focus on for a week, two weeks or a month (depending on a child's skill level). Watch this video to see what’s included!
It sometimes takes time for children to understand core words because they are abstract linguistic concepts. Be sure to provide lots of modeling on how to use these words and find highly motivating activities that will inspire children to use them.
